Bramham Park 10km and 5km Fun Run Sunday 6th October

Alison Mackie

Calling serious athletes, casual joggers, dog walkers and anyone who enjoys a Sunday morning stroll in God’s own country, the 15th Bramham Park Fun Run is now open. Applications from teams from local businesses are particularly encouraged.

The event is open to all, from the most serious runners, to people who just want a stroll in the park.  The start is at 10:30am on Sunday 6th October on the main drive of Bramham Park outside the Hall. There are two routes: 10km, which is very challenging, and 5km for casual joggers and walkers. Both routes use paths entirely within the park and offer beautiful surroundings and views.  Participants have returned to the event year on year and brought their friends and family.

Last year 486 people entered and raised nearly £7,600 for Cancer Research UK Again this year the money raised will be supporting the research conducted in St James Hospital, Leeds by Professor Alan Melcher into using common viruses to destroy cancer cells.

The event is yet again being sponsored by local estate agents, Beadnall Copley, and, as before they are covering all the set up costs.  This means that all the money raised by participants will go directly to help Cancer Research UK.

The entry fees are £8 for adults, £4.50 for children and £19.50 for families (maximum 4 people). Registration and sponsorship forms can be obtained by contacting:

Ann Newton   Tel: 01937 841470

For more information or entry forms, please see our web site:

Beadnall Copley, the sponsor of the run, is the region’s leading independent estate agent with offices in Wetherby, Harrogate and Ripon, providing an unrivalled, quality service and expert marketing winning awards time after time for achieving excellent sales results.  For further information contact their website www.beadnallcopley.co.uk.

Cancer Research UK is the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world. Its vision is to conquer cancer through world class research, carried out by a dedicated team of 3,000 internationally recognised scientists and doctors. Bramham Running Club Bonus Mile Incentive Scheme!

Nina Batt

Bramham Running Club at Bramham Park 10K 2012

We’ve decided to implement a bonus mile incentive scheme for Bramham Running Club starting with immediate effect!

The bonus miles can be gained individually during an organised event or during the running club runs for completing certain challenges:

  • 3 bonus miles for entering a running event and achieving a personal best time
  • 2 bonus miles for entering and completing a running event that you have never done before
  • 1 bonus mile per person if more than 5 members of Bramham Running Club enter and complete a running event
  • 1 bonus mile for every Windmill Hill completed (during a running club run)
  • 1 bonus mile for every 2 Almshouse Hills completed (during a running club run)

Hopefully this will encourage us all to try something new, run a bit faster and have a bit of team spirit by competing in a few events together!

I am welcome to additional suggestions, please send them to Nina Batt

We keep running whatever the weather!

Bramham Runners have continued to add to the Team Miles total even in these winter months when going outside in the cold doesn’t seem like the most inviting thing to do!

On Friday 28th December, 18 runners headed down to the Village Square in the bitterly cold wind and rain to take part in the annual Christmas Pudding Run! A choice of 3, 6, 9 or 13 mile routes were the options and together we clocked up a whopping 167 team miles in 1 morning!

The team miles total at the end of 2012 was a fantastic 18,796! Well done everyone, let’s keep it up for 2013!

We’ve been battling with the elements in January as well but a little bit of snow won’t stop us!. See below for photos of the fun we’ve been having in Bramham Park…
