The Inaugural Bramham 10k

What a wonderful day we had for the very first Bramham 10k that set off from The Pavilion on Sunday the 17th of July.

The event was organised by Val Whitbread (Parish Council Chair) together with a team of almost 50 volunteers from The Pavilion Committee, The Parish Council, The Running Club, family and friends.

120 runners set off on the course on a lovely sunny morning and most runners returned describing the event as "tough" but very enjoyable. The course took off via the Paradise Way cycle path, along through Headley before taking on a tricky section across the fields off Toulston lane before returning up Heygate Lane, back through our village to finish on "Bramham Beast" of Almshouse Hill.

Runners and spectators enjoyed bacon butty's, tea and cakes made by local bakers and the children enjoyed a Fun Run with the help of Zippee and George!

Sponsors of the event included Bramham Garage (medals), APC Clothing (printed vests), The Passion Group (prizes) and Sainsburys of Tadcaster (drinks and bananas).

The results are available on www.ukresults.net. Richard Beck from Yorkshire Carnegie kindly came along to present the prizes.

Paul Millgate was the fastest man home completing the course in an incredible 35 mins 49 seconds. The winning lady not far behind overall in 9th position in a time of 42 mins 45 secs.

The support of Tadcaster Triathlon & Running Club, Wetherby and Otley Running clubs was so much appreciated with loan of equipment, advice and support. Many thanks to those clubs involvement and generosity that ensured our event ran smoothly.

A local photographer Rob Whiteley kindly captured many fabulous photos that can be viewed here https://flic.kr/s/aHskDsEUGk

The pennies are still being counted but we are hoping the event will raise a good sum of money to help with the upkeep of The Pavilion for the coming year.

A big thank you to runners, sponsors, spectators, volunteers for your contribution in making this event a success
